Taking art supplies with me comes quite natural to me. My first struggles starts with "which supplies? which colours? which sketchbooks", narrowing it down to the essentials I want to have with me. Next challenge is to actually get them out and use them. I love drawing on travels, but I got more shy about using them in public than I used to. One part is definitively because of Covid and the lack of practice of drawing in public.
But I made a short trip with my partner and we both brought our sketchbook. Not having to do this on my own was soo helpful. I remembered how much I enjoyed drawing from real life, or draw in new places.
To the gossip part: I realized that it is quite helpful to me to listen to stuff, I assume it could be for the same reasons gossip helped you: it just gives the part of the brain something to do that otherwise would overthink/ overcritic what we are currently doing
I love your paintings :) the first one looks like a sea of flowers where I just want to jump into ^^
The gossip/listening to something/giving my brain something to do is a good call. Our silly, overactive brains need to be occupied in more than one way 🙃. It’s the same reason why gardening while listening to my podcasts is way more meditative for me as compared to an actual meditation session.
So glad that you were able to enjoy your art with your partner. It takes practice to get comfortable with doing it in public, aka, ignoring everyone you, lol. Sounds like you are doing the work!!
Thank you for the feedback on the art I shared! I love how you described the flowers. Thank you for sharing that with me. It means a lot 💛
I loved your creations so much! I've never thought of taking painting supplies along on a journey. I used to travel with knitting all the time, especially for long international flights. My kids know nothing of store-bought sweaters, scarves, or hats for all the things I made for them. And I nearly always knit with no pattern.
Wow, that is incredible! Knitting is no joke, Robin. I don't know if you need those painting supplies; sounds like knitting is your creative outlet of choice. And I bet your kids really, really appreciate it.💛
I just bought a travel art journal and started painting as well. I took my supplies to the ER last night when my kid went to the hospital and it was nice to have a calming activity. (Kid is ok too!)
I am glad to hear that your kid is doing okay! And that painting helped you regulate. Our brains need something else to do as we process those big emotions!
Keep up the wonderful artwork.
Thank you!!
The chamomile flowers are fabulous.
Thank you!
